TESTIMONIALS FROM STUDENTS

This is one of the best studios in the country!!! Hands down!!! Dr. Malan has an understanding of every musical genre a pianist could be involved in. I studied with him from Middle School through High school and he prepared me for college and beyond. I currently am a professional pianist and Music director in NYC. I couldn’t have done this without the dedication and expertise of Dr. Malán.” ~Jad Bernardo.

Paul Miller“My experience with Dr. Ruben Malan is the reason why I have continued into the FSU College of Music pursuing a degree in Choral Music Education, all the while continuing my piano training. When it comes to instructors, few match the wealth of knowledge that Dr. Malan possesses. He is extremely well-read in many different approaches to technique, and his attention to subtle nuance in musicality and style is nothing short of inspiring. He has proven his phenomenal teaching ability with all ages and all skill levels, and more importantly than anything, has the student’s best interest at heart. He is not content to simply teach notes. He will train his students to be musicians, in every sense of the word; he, by exposing his students to true art can have a true impact on their development, not only as artists, but as human beings. He teaches empathy, musical sensitivity, and discipline, attention to detail, pride in doing a job to the best of your ability, and love of the instrument. I would not, by any means, be the same person without his instruction, and even today, I am still so extremely grateful for his presence in my life. Thanks Dr. Malan for being my coach, mentor, and true friend.”~Paul Miller.

Giulliana“I am an actress, singer and dancer living in Los Angeles. I took classes with Dr. Malan for about 5 years and my younger brother has been with him for 7 years. In my time with him Dr. Malan not only helped me grow as an artist but as a person. His passion for the arts is inspirational. His professionalism is impeccable. He helped me cultivate the artist inside of me and taught me the true power that lies within music and how we as artists have a gift of affecting others and making an impact on their lives. The piano is such a beautiful instrument that not only can make an impact mentally, but emotionally, and spiritually. Dr. Malan truly loves what he does and always strives to see his students improve. His piano technique is unmatchable and he works with all age ranges as well as all levels of experience. Dr. Malan will push you to where you need to go and will accept no less than your best! If you are looking for a quality and professionalism look no more. Dr. Malan embodies an instructor and a fellow artist that does not only teach but inspires others to explore art through music.” Giulliana Martínez.

Dr. Chals Moore playing the piano.“At a more than ripe age I started piano lessons with Dr. Malan. He almost immediately taught me where “middle C” could be found, and before my first     lesson was over I could even find “D.” Pretty soon, thrillingly, I could tell the black keys from the white. From thence we went on to this and that, and before I knew it I had a touch of Chopin in my fingers. I could scarcely believe it. What a thrill! And all, I assure you, to the credit of Dr. Malan, who with such good humor, patience, care, and respect for even my fumbly-fingers has opened an entire world to my reckoning. To have gained such an entry into the world of music he knows and loves so well has joyfully enlightened my older age (only a year, now, short of 80!). That I write this in praise of Dr. Malan falls very short of the thanks I owe him, but at least it permits me the pleasure of acknowledging him as a brilliant pianist, and a wonderful teacher. Whether you already play or are just beginning, with Dr. Malan you will not go wrong. You will have some fun, as well: He may even show you a step or two of the “Tango”….at which he is also, of course, marvelous! P.S. And otherwise, by the way, if you are inclined to a bit of a party, and have a piano lurking about, you may even be able to delight your friends by negotiating with Dr. Malan to come play for you in your home. He has a charming ability not only to play selected pieces, but to describe their context and meaning in both an enlightening and entertaining manner. He has done this for us a time or two, and our guests have unfailingly loved it. ” ~Charles Moore.

“Dear Mr. Malán thank you for being such a great teacher these past five years. I have always enjoyed our Wednesdays classes and I know I have learned a ton, which will be useful to me all my life. I now have a solid piano background that will enable me to pick up pieces for a long time to come, but in addition to that, you have taught me a lot about other aspects of life. I always will remember our lengthy discussions about politics, wars, and philosophy, and you have been giving me advice plus knowledge, that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I know I have not been the best student, and I apologize for that, but I hope you have still enjoyed our lessons as much as I have. Thanks you so much and continue to be a great teacher. Love.”~Arzu Singh.

“Ruben, first of all, I would like to apologize for the fact that waited so long to give this to you. Over the past few months, I have realized how much I have benefited from piano. It has taught me so much about music, ethics and how fulfilling life can be. Now I think I need to move on to another field and I just wanted to tell you how big an impact you’ve had in my life. It was truly grateful to have you as a teacher. I will never forget those lessons and how I matured from them. I am and I always will be thankful of your effort and time with me. Again, thank you for the gift of music. Your friend, Jonathan Bowers”
